Living In Canada

So what is it like to be living in Canada?

living in canada

  • The short answer would be: It was GREAT back then!!! I absolutely loved it. 🙂
  • Well first of all Canada is a very young country. It was founded in 1867 and is now 151 years old. If you are interested in the history of Canada please click here.

  • It’s basically a huge country, covering 9.98 million square kilometers (3.85 million square miles), which makes it the 2nd largest country area-wise. Now take a guess how many people reside or live in this huge area?
  • So even I was utterly amazed and surprised when I heard the number, it’s about 37 million, spread out over 10 provinces and 3 territories.

  • But enough of the facts. What is Canada really like, especially if you are considering moving and living in Canada?

Well we immigrated to Canada in 1978, and let me tell you, Immigration then and now is very different! But basically everything was easier 30-40 years ago. The earth population 40 years ago was approx. 4.286 Billion. Now in 2018 earth’s population is almost 7.5 Billion people! And still to this day, the 2nd largest country on this planet from an area, has only 37 Million people living there. I wonder why?

Canada only has 4 cities that have over 1 million residents. Its biggest is Toronto, Ontario with about 4,8 Million.
In 2nd place, we have Montreal, Quebec with about 3,6 Million, followed by Vancouver, BC with about 2+ Million, and Calgary in Alberta, which should by the time I am finished writing this article, should have close to 1 Million.

  • So where should you choose to move, IF you would have a choice? Well, the answer to that is easy. Are you a Millionaire or a Billionaire? Just kidding…well not really. When I grew up in Canada, life was really easy and inexpensive, compared to now. So it totally depends on these factors:

Do YOU have relatives in Canada?

Do you have a JOB / WORK offer in Canada?

  • These 2 factors (and maybe some others that I just can not think of right now) will determine where you will live in Canada. Just in case you do have plenty of money, you can decide where you would like to live.
  • The best climate, or let’s say the mildest climate in Canada has Vancouver.
  • It’s also one of the most expensive cities in Canada, but also, in my opinion, the most beautiful, when it comes to amenities that this city provides to its residents. More on the city of Vancouver in my other page/post found here:

The other side of the coin is that Canada does not really have (sorry Canadians) a true old history.

And I don’t mean that in a bad way, since you are only 151 years “OLD”, but compared to Europa, where most immigrants came from, Europa has HISTORY in pretty much all aspects. Good and some bad, since the Ying and Yang always need a balance.

So When I returned to Vancouver Canada in 2015, I was amazed and in shock at the same time.

This city and I am sure the entire country has changed profoundly in every way. Good and bad.

  • The bad was that NOW an entire street for miles turned into a DRUG area. This was not the case in
    living in canada
    Downtown East Side Hastings Street

the 70’s and 80’s.  The street is called East Hastings and its drug inhabitants take over pretty much the entire street, right up to almost downtown Vancouver. They do stay in that area since they get their drugs like Heroin from the Government! Since if they wouldn’t provide it for them, they would commit various crimes to get them!

  • You will of course not find these people downtown Vancouver,  nor in the nice areas where real Vancouver Skyline26estate has gone up significantly in price. Century 21’s  Most expensive places list places Vancouver’s west side at number one in Canada, at $1,201 a square foot, on average! I guess that a lot of large cities all around the world have their “problem” areas and others, where the rich live.

  • It is still a favorite country among many people, who are considering leaving their birth country and moving to a better place.

The reasons are obvious:

  1. Canada has English as its primary language. So for most people around the globe, English is the language that is widely spoken, so there is no need to learn a totally new language. By the way, just in case you do want to learn English, I do have a website, which is mainly about the English language, but also includes other languages. Please visit my site here. Thank you.
  2. It is a HUGE country with ample space, and you can decide if you would want to live way off the grid, or in a Metropolitan city. The further from the cities you go, the cheaper the land becomes. Basically, you can buy one acre for around $10,000 Can. As usual LOCATION matters and determines the price, but since there is so much land available, it’s really cheap.
  3. For people who are hard-working, it’s fairly easy to find a Job or Work!
  4. You don’t need minimumwagemapjuneenfancy degrees or Ph. D.s, you just need to want to work, and YOU will find it. There are plenty of employers out there who will hire people who are hard-working and trustworthy! You can check the min. wage for each province here.

If you have plans to live in the French-speaking part of Canada, which is basically Quebec, then please have a really good reason.

About 6.1 million or 85% reside in Quebec. Outside Quebec, the largest French-speaking populations are found in New Brunswick (which is home to 3.1% of Canada’s Francophones) and Ontario (4.2%, residing primarily in the eastern and northeastern parts of the province and in Toronto and Ottawa).

So IF you just have to move to Quebec, then don’t let me stop you. Well, I would love to stop you, since Quebec tried to separate from Canada some years ago. WHY?

Well, let’s just say the main reason was that for them, speaking FRENCH was more important than anything and everything else!

Crazy right, since it would have bankrupted them. This has now changed because the rest of the country has managed to basically LABEL every item in both English and French.

Lastly I would really encourage everyone who is interested to live and work or immigrate to Canada to do their DUE DILIGENCE on this subject matter!! Please do not ask me any questions about immigration policies or what type of Visas there are out there for you.

  • Immigration changes every so often, and IF you make just one mistake on your application, or fail a due date, it might have severe consequences on your approval or entry to Canada!

PLEASE consult an Immigration Lawyer. It will be money well spent.

You can google that or contact an immigration lawyer in Vancouver that I have met personally and can highly recommend.

He will still charge you for his advice or services, but at least you have a damn good one! His name is Ron Beirnes, and he is the President of R.B. Global Immigration Consultants LTD. In Vancouver. For his website please click here . His email and phone numbers are on the website.

Just in case you can’t access it, his phone number is 604-688-3081, and his email is: ron_beirnes@telus.net

Sure hope this helps.

LAST but not least:

Have you heard of a company based in the USA by the name of ASEA? If not you should check it out. But only when you have 15 minutes or so.

WHY you might ask?

1. Maybe you have a health issue and have not found a solution. What is causing it?

Most doctors want to treat only the SYMPTOM, not the cause since they want you to come back for let’s call it further treatment. It is like any modern car these days. My 1st F-150 Ford truck, I basically fixed on my own!

Today you just might be able to change your own tire, but that is about it. So just in case you have or you know someone who has a health issue and has tried everything and NOTHING has worked, why don’t you try ASEA REDOX? The link is right there, and below are some pictures that will give you an idea of this amazing product that has NO competition anywhere in the world.

They are the only company able to do this with a scientific breakthrough. Their products are as Holistic as it gets! NO side effects whatsoever, and 30-day money back guarantee! They ship almost anywhere in the world. Just check the website and find YOUR country. They ship to over 40 countries. Thank you.

UPDATE February 2022! Please read.

I was devastated by yesterday’s and today’s NEWS that J.Trudeau

invokes emergency powers to quell trucker protests in Canada!!!

He is either scared or he believes NO LONGER in Freedom of the people! Sad to say that MOVING or WORKING in Canada is for now out of the question.

And usually, in these matters, it will get worse before it gets better…:(

Thank you
